Deleting your Gowalko account

You can delete your account and everything in it yourself, from inside the app. It happens immediately — there is no waiting period and no queue.

How

Open Gowalko and sign in.
Go to the More tab.
Under your account details, tap Delete my account.
Confirm twice. The second confirmation is the irreversible one.

You are returned to the sign-in screen and the account no longer exists.

If you cannot open the app — you uninstalled it, or you cannot sign in — write to support@gowalko.com from the email address the account uses, and ask for it to be deleted. We will do it and confirm within 30 days.

What is deleted

Your account: email address, display name and password hash.
Every sign-in session, on every device.
What you told us you are interested in.
Everything you are entitled to, and the record of the free monthly allowance you have used.
Your quiz answers.

What is kept, and why

Invoices for anything you bought, with your account detached from them. An invoice is an accounting record of money that changed hands, and we are required to keep it for the statutory retention period even after an account is closed. It keeps the details that were on it when it was issued; it is no longer connected to a Gowalko account.
Walks you had backed up, if you turned on “Back up my walks”. Those are stored against a random device identifier rather than against your account, so deleting the account cannot reach them — which is the same property that keeps them anonymous. Use Forget this device in More to discard them. Doing that before deleting your account removes both.

What deleting does not do

It does not cancel a Google Play subscription. Cancel that in your Google Play account, or it keeps billing you. Cancel it first.
It does not delete anything stored only on your phone — downloaded walks, saved places, progress. Uninstalling the app removes those.

Deleting is permanent. We cannot restore an account afterwards, and buying again does not bring the old one back. You are welcome to create a new one at any time.
